Our Mission

To bridge the gap between education and employment by connecting students directly to the industries in their backyard. We exist to build a sustainable pipeline of local talent, ensuring that the next generation is aware of, interested in, and prepared for the careers available in their own communities.

What We Do

The Expertise Project (ExPr) provides a career discovery and skill development platform that transforms local industry experts into classroom inspiration. We don’t just tell students about jobs; we show them the work. By turning passive observation into active engagement, we help employers cultivate their future teams long before graduation.

How We Do It:

• Authentic Discovery: We curate a library of high-fidelity content created by the community, for the community. From employer teams sharing their passion to student interns capturing active job sites, our videos offer an unfiltered, authentic look at the local economy.
• Actionable Curriculum: We bridge the gap between “watching” and “doing.” We provide teachers with plug-and-play lessons that map real-world industry skills to state education standards, turning a spark of interest into a tangible skill.
• Real Connection: We act as the connective tissue between schools, corporate sponsors, and public workforce development entities. Our goal is to clear the path from graduation to meaningful careers within their own communities.

Who We Are

ExPr is a multi-faceted workforce development system that bridges the awareness gap between students, parents, educators, the unemployed/under-employed, workforce boards, and businesses.

The ExPr System provides students and educators with virtual field trips and authentic workforce materials created alongside local businesses, utilizing VR headsets and an online workforce platform. This system raises career awareness for students of all ages, provides a unique toolkit for K-12 schools to meet current and future NY Inspires curricula requirements, and is designed to grow organically to incorporate more partners and industries over time.

We are a coalition of educators, regional employers, parents, and students exploring the workforce of today to shape the economy of tomorrow. Underpinning this coalition is a simple truth: You can’t be what you can’t see. We believe that by illuminating hidden career paths, we empower students to select careers that truly fit them—not just the ones they see on TV or social media.
